7.5m x 10.4m Large Cross-Section Rectangular Pipe Jacking Machine was applied in the Zhengzhou Zhongzhou Avenue Pipe Jacking Tunnel. This pipe jacking machine can cut full cross section with the diameter of 10.4m X 7.5m, the size of the cross section is the largest in the field of pipe jacking machine at home and abroad. Many various new technologies were formed, including the rectangular development machine technology of cutting full cross section combination of central cutter and off-center multi-spindle cutter (1 cutter + 4 off-center multi-spindle cutters); the first application of wireless monitoring and the technology of modularized quick switch over, which is simple and safe, and has long communication distance and extendibility, reducing the switching time. After experts study on research results, the main technology standard of the project has achieved the international advanced level.

The earth pressure balance shield “Pioneer” is the 863rd project of the 10th five year plan in our country, which was constructed by STEC. We developed the first underground shield in China with autonomous intellectual property right in 2003. This shield’s outer diameter is 6.34 meters, and the largest thrust is 35200KN. Its excavating speed reaches to 6 cm/min. In October 2004, this shield was applied to the tunnel construction of Shanghai Metro Line 2’s Gubei Road to Zhongshan park area. In June 2005, the first tunneling was finished. The “Pioneer” created a new record of shield excavation in the world, and set a record of excavating 38.4 meters per day and 566.4 meters per month compared with the fast record of 31.4 meters per day and 531 meters per month at that time. The “Pioneer” reversed the situation that foreign shield ruled the shield technology, and its main technical standards attained the advanced level of foreign shields. Therefore, it acquired many awards such as Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, Chinese Major Creation Award and silver prize of Chinese Industrial Exposition. 22 “Pioneer” were ordered in 2006, boosting the domestic shield market greatly and also achieving quantum leap development of shield in STEC. “Pioneer” has been used to construct metro tunnels in Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Wuhan etc.

Φ11.22m大直径泥水平衡盾构“进越号”由隧道股份依托“十一五”国家863项目于2008年成功研制。2009年9月,胜利完成了世博重大配套工程打浦路隧道复线。该盾构在核心关键技术—大直径泥水平衡控制技术、多功能真空吸盘式管片拼装机等方面上取得了重大突破。所采用的泥水平衡动态自动控制系统,实际施工中,泥水压力的波动控制在0.008MPa以内,优于当时的国际水平。保证了盾构掘进过程中开挖面稳定以及环境保护的特殊要求(解决穿越老隧道、备用车道、污水南干线的安全难题)。同时,在黄浦江底实现了隧道小曲率半径仅为380米的施工,创下国际大型泥水平衡盾构最小转弯半径的纪录。这台盾构机的技术指标与国外同类技术的水平大体相当,填补了国内大型盾构机领域的空白,达到国际先进水平,曾获得2010年中国国际工业博览会金奖第一名。

With a diameter of 6.64m, articulated EPB shield “Nanyang” is the first earth pressure shield machine exported abroad, independently developed by STEC. This shield machine has achieved the international BS standard. The lifetime of the key components reached 10,000 hours under the load standard, ensuring high reliability. The designing and equipment of the shield machine surpassed the domestic standard of shield machines, for example, the shield machine was equipped with fire fighting system in terms of sprinklers, water curtain, bubbles and CO2 automatic fire extinguishing measures. Complete data collection, shield condition monitoring, shield key positions’ video monitoring and voice communication system are also equipped. The shield design is more refined, besides installing pedestrian gantry gates, there are materials’ access gates; full set of mechanical auxiliary device for the transportation of cutters resulting in labor reduction, safety and reliability. Particularly the air cooling system was equipped to ensure the working surface temperature of the shield machine.

The latest 11.83m*7.27m rectangular shield machine developed by STEC was adopted on the first phase of Ningbo Metro Line 3, which has the largest cross section in the field at home and abroad. This kind of rectangular shield machine pioneered the integrated bidding mode of “scientific research-design-construction”. Relying on rich experience in designing and constructing shield machines, STEC’s scientific research team succeeded in developing the “Yangming” shield machine, which was named after the master of mind study——Wang Yangming. We have also formed a close and efficient cooperative relationship with Ningbo Rail Transport Group by carrying out the project.

During the development of the rectangular shield machine, STEC adopted several innovative technologies. One is modular lay-out technology including two X-shape-interested circular cutters with multiaxial eccentric cutter system, perfectly solving the previous dead zone problem of rectangular shield machine excavating sections, and also has obvious advantages in economy and safety. This is suitable for cutting various unconventional cross sections. The second one is a control method and an algorithm to avoid the interference of two X-shape-interested circular cutters when revolving, ensuring the safety of the two cutters in operation. That’s because the partial overlapping of two X-crossing cutters’ swivel trajectory on the working surface causes interference of the two cutters thereby losing control and causing damage. The third one is multi-DOF tunnel plate assembling technology with column building functionality, implementing optimized path planning and high precision, collision-free tracking with compound motion technology, breeding a new solution for automatic tunnel place delivery processing. The fourth one is adopting the automatic articulated technology of heavy quasi-rectangular shield machine shape curve, which can make a R300m turn. There is no corresponding case in the rectangular shield machine field at home and abroad.
