Ma Kai, Member of Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, Investigated Major Equipment of STEC

On November 1, 2015, Ma Kai, member of Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, Miao Wei, Minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Communist Party Secretary, and Liu Kun, Vice Finance Minister investigated and surveyed domestic shield industrial base, with “old, middle-aged and young” tunnel employees of three generations accompanied, telling the state leaders about the history and story of “China's major equipment”.

Vice Premier Ma Kai, accompanied by Zhou Wenbo, President of Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd. (STEC), visited the shield tunneling machine exhibition hall, listened to development history of domestic shield industry and details of new technologies and new products in recent years about shield heading machine and watched with interest all kinds of domestic product models such as shield, steel mould and tube push bench, which have been developed by STEC. He praised the achievements of the company in expanding overseas market when he was informed that STEC was the first to successfully export domestic shield and 16 sets had been exported.

Vice Premier Ma Kai was also concerned about the application of STEC’s shield tunneling machines in aspects of railway, water conservancy construction and urban utility tunnel construction and highly appreciated the construction advantages of quasi-rectangular shield in the field of urban underground space development. When knowing the comp any is facing the difficulty of matching base parts and components, Vice Premier Ma Kai gave special instructions to relevant ministries that overall planning and policy coordination of relevant works should be improved with clear aim in order to better implement the strategy of manufacturing power and to achieve the target of "Made in China 2025". President Zhou Wenbo answered all the questions raised by Vice Premier Ma Kai, during which President Zhou Wenbo mentioned that as a listed company, STEC will continue to develop more equipment for underground construction with higher and newer technology, so as to make contributions to the nation’s infrastructure and sustainable development. Besides, President Zhou Wenbo gave a quasi-rectangular shield model, latest achievements in domestic shield, to Vice Premier Ma Kai as a gift on behalf of the company.
