Shanghai BIM Technology Innovation Alliance Established and STEC Elected as First President Unit

On May 10, the grand inaugural meeting of Shanghai BIM Technology Innovation Alliance was held in IBP International Convention Centre in Changning District, Shanghai. During the meeting, the ceremony of establishing BIM Alliance was held and STEC was elected as first president unit of the alliance’s council. Shao Zhiqing, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Pei Xiao, Deputy Director of Shanghai Housing and Urban Rural Construction Management Committee,Shen Honghua, Director of construction market supervision department of Shanghai Housing and Urban Rural Construction Management Committee, Wang Jiayao, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhou Wenbo, President of STEC, and representatives coming from 58 alliance member units such as joint conference for BIM Promotion in Yangpu District, Shanghai Shendi, Shanghai Construction Group and professionals in the industry from all over the world attended the meeting.

Under the guidance of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization and Shanghai Housing and Urban Rural Construction Management Committee Shanghai BIM Technology Innovation Alliance has been jointly established by colleges and universities and enterprises and public institutions which work on technical research, development, application, promotion of Building Information Modeling (BIM), based on the requirements of Three-Year Action Plan of Promoting the Building Information Modeling Technology in Shanghai. Adhering to the purpose of “mission featuring, collaborative innovation and win-win development”, the alliance is committed to building consensus and resource integration in order to improve supply-side capacity and promote research, development, application and extension of BIM technology and products.

At the meeting, Shao Zhiqing, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, noted that digitization and networking of urban buildings achieved by BIM technology are the information and physical basis of building the smart city. He hoped that the alliance can fit the business needs to build a win-win communication platform for production, learning, research and appliance, integrate resources of good quality, promote research, development, application and extension of BIM technology and products, and enhance inter-industry information communication, experience exchange, policy coordination and industry self-regulation, so as to form industrial technology innovation chain. In this way, breakthroughs can be made in key technologies and common technologies, thus enhancing the industry technical standard and core competitiveness, and making new contributions to accelerating the construction of technological innovation center of global influence in the city.

Zhou Wenbo, President of the first council of the alliance and President of STEC, noted on behalf of the alliance that the alliance is established at the right time, and STEC would be realistic and accomplish its mission by making great efforts to coordinate government and enterprises, strengthen communication and collaboration among the building information industry chain, and comprehensively respond to information needs of building field, thus improving development and application level of Shanghai BIM in a down-to-earth manner.
