Town of Yimianpo Designed by STEC Chosen among Second Batch of National Characteristic Towns

On July 27, MOHURD（Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development）announced the list of the second batch of the National Characteristic Towns. The characteristic town of Yimianpo, Shangzhi City in Heilongjiang province, which was designed by STEC Shanghai Urban Construction Design & Research Institute, is chosen in the list.

Compared with the requirement of the first batch of the National Characteristic Towns, the requirements of the second batch are more strict and specific. Since 2016, the planning team of STEC Shanghai Urban Construction Design & Research Institute has repeatedly been to the Yimianpo town to do research and communicate with local people. Based on the actual situation of the town, as well as the beautiful natural environment and rich culture, they grasp the basic industries and cultivate distinctive dominant industries, and do the implementation of the system and mechanism innovation, to say "no" to the stereotyped town images.

High quality IP is the "soul" of the Characteristic Towns. As the pioneer and the keeper of the advanced planning and designing concept of the Characteristic Towns, STEC Shanghai Urban Construction Design & Research Institute holds the development concept of "innovation, harmony, green, open and sharing", integrates geographical conditions and cultural context, so as to look for a different way to develop the Characteristic Towns.
