A few days ago, construction of the project of the base added to Shanghai History Museum which was undertaken by STEC Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd. commenced officially. And an underground exhibition gallery that connects the buildings on the east and west sides will be built for the historic building that has a history of over 80 years and has witnessed the development and changes of Shanghai.
During construction, STEC will adopt MJS, or Metro Jet System, to fix the position of the museum building. MJS method, the most advanced method in the world to consolidate foundation, adopts unique perforated pipes and has forced suction device at front end, and thus having a small volume and low voice. During construction in the underground space of the museum, the project team will be able to precisely control the pressure in earth, remarkably reduce the impact to the environment, effectively reduce such risks like surface ground deformation, cracks in buildings and shift of the position of a building which might happen in foundation consolidation, and minimize the interference of construction to surrounding buildings.
